NEW YORK CITY (Feb. 11 2014) – Brazilian Born designer Layana Aguilar unveiled her Fall/Winter 2014 collection during New York Fashion Week at Four81 Gallery in Soho on February 11, 2014.
The collection reflects Layana’s own bloom, her evolution as a designer and as a woman. As a new mother and career woman, Layana strives for balance in life, and her collection captures that. She crafted effortless pieces that provide a sense of protection, whilst not forgetting to celebrate every woman’s sexiness and sensuality. This collection is a tribute to all the strong, cool girls out there.
A quintessentially outerwear heavy collection, neoprene, wool crepe, and leather with touches of alpaca and lambskin coexistalongside Aguilar’s signature dresses, some rendered in original print inspired by graffiti found on the streets of New York City.
A stunning balance of subtle boxiness and fitted silhouettes are part of Layana Aguilar’s Fall/Winter 2014 season staples. In trend for the season, she chose shades of pinks and peaches combined with subtle greys and sharps blacks.
With makeup direction by celebrity makeup artist Karlo Karlo for Beautyblender using NYX Cosmetics, models sported brown-wine lips and defined brows against a satiny complexion. The flawless complexion was framed by a relaxed, wavy hair crafted by hairstylist Adi Nujeidat and Yaniv Levy from Y Gallery Salon.
A former dancer, Layana is inspired by the movement of the body. She designs with draping on the form in lieu of sketching. Her strong identity as a designer was immortalized in her participation on Project Runway Season 11. For Layana Aguilar, each collection reveals a tapestry of life experiences, triumphs, and milestones. Her Fall/Winter 2014 collection is a live expression of this.
